JACCI LEA, RYT 200Jacci began practicing the techniques of yoga in New Orleans as a way to help with some back pain she was experiencing. She continues to practice yoga nearly 15 years later. After many years of Iyengar style yoga, she now includes those techniques of alignment into a flow style. Jacci came to Asheville from New Orleans (just one week post Katrina) where she taught yoga for several years at Wild Lotus Yoga. She feels that yoga is a practice that can benefit anyone no matter what age, level, or physical ability. "One does not need to have a flexible body to enjoy the calming benefits of yoga." Her basic classes guide beginners as well as seasoned yogin(i)s in basic techniques including postures and breathing. Jacci received her yoga teacher training at Living Yoga in Austin. Outside of the studio, Jacci has worked as a Medical Technologist. She enjoys meditation, hiking with her husband and her dog, and being with people. |

KRISTINE MADERA, M.A.Kristine came to yoga because of its aim of uniting the body and mind. Yoga, combined with a long-time meditation practice, and study of energy healing, led her to believe that cultivating the spirit within isn't about denying the body or even mastering it, but by understanding and embracing our physical selves. She strives to bring that idea into her yoga classes and teaching. She has taught yoga for six years, three of them with the mind-body fitness program at the Ritz-Carlton in Maui, where she also taught meditation. She has integrated aspects of mind, body and spirit in a Chakra yoga class, which helps participants understand and work with their chakras and their energy bodies. She is also the co-author of How to Meditate with your Dog: An Introduction to Meditation for Dog Lovers. |
